Add the week once and separate regular from overtime hours
Enter daily hours, hourly rate, threshold, and multiplier. The default 40-hour / 1.5× rule is editable and must be verified for the worker and jurisdiction.
- Record all time actually worked, including required pre-shift and post-shift work.
- Have payroll verify the workweek, regular rate, breaks, exemptions, and any state rule.
- Keep the approved timesheet and documented corrections with the payroll record.
Recordkeeping and arithmetic aid only, not payroll or legal advice. The federal 40-hour / 1.5× default generally applies to covered nonexempt employees; exceptions and more protective state or local rules may apply.

| Estimated gross | regular hours × rate + overtime hours × rate × multiplier | verify the regular rate |

Questions
Is the timesheet template free?
Yes. Fill it in and download the Excel workbook without paying or signing up.
Does federal overtime always start after eight hours in a day?
The general federal rule shown here is after 40 hours in a workweek for covered nonexempt employees. Some states or agreements add daily or other overtime rules.
Does weekend work automatically mean overtime?
Not under the general federal rule by itself. Weekly hours and the applicable law or agreement matter.
Can I use 1.5 times the listed hourly rate for everyone?
Not automatically. Payroll must verify coverage, exemption and the regular rate, including remuneration that the law requires to be included.
Is this a payroll system?
No. It is a recordkeeping and arithmetic aid. Payroll must verify taxes, deductions, pay rules and the final amount.
