Can I start for free?
Yes. Layers is free for teams of up to 20 people, with no time limit: every module, 5 GB per workspace, files up to 25 MB. Call recording isn’t on Free — it starts on Plus. When your team grows, move to a paid plan — everything you already have stays where it is.
Who do I pay for?
In the cloud, for each member of the workspace. The price depends on team size: $9 per person per month for up to 50 people, $39 for up to 500. Self-hosted pricing is on request.
How do the cloud plans differ?
In the member limit, storage per person and how fast support replies. Modules are the same on every plan; call recording is on paid plans, starting with Plus.
Need more storage but your team is small?
Choose the next size up: it comes with more storage per person — 15 or 100 GB.
What happens if we hit a limit?
You can’t add members beyond your plan’s limit, and on the free plan you can’t upload files larger than 25 MB or record calls. Everything you already have stays where it is.
How does AI work?
The AI assistant is on every plan; the amount of credits depends on the plan. You can buy more credits if you need them. Self-hosted, AI runs on your own model, including a local one.
How do I move to self-hosted?
Install Layers in Docker together with PostgreSQL — the first 90 days are a free trial. After that you need a license; pricing is on request: we’ll discuss your team size, support and license terms. Setup, updates, customization and support are billed separately, by agreement.
