How much college will cost — and what to save each month from now
Put in today's yearly tuition and fees, the yearly allowance, books and transport, the years until college, the yearly increase you expect, the years of the course and what you have saved. You see the first college year and the whole course in future pesos, and the amount to save each month. No sign-up.
- Ask the school for its current tuition and other fees, and change the yearly increase if the school tells you its history.
- Set the monthly amount as an automatic transfer on payday, and tick it in the Excel «Savings tracker».
- Look at state universities and colleges too: under RA 10931 qualified students pay no tuition and other school fees there.
Arithmetic only: today's yearly cost grows by your assumed rate each year; the monthly amount does not count any interest your savings may earn. Not financial advice.

Questions
How much should I save for my child's college?
Today's yearly cost grows by the increase you choose until college starts; the calculator adds up every college year and divides what is left by the months until then.
Is college free in the Philippines?
In state universities and colleges and local universities and colleges, qualified Filipino students are exempt from tuition and other school fees (RA 10931). Allowance, books and transport are still yours to cover.
What yearly increase should I use?
Your assumption: the example uses 5%. Ask the school about its past tuition increases and change it.
Does it count interest?
No: the monthly amount is plain savings. If your fund earns interest, you will need a little less.
Can I track my savings?
Yes: the Excel «Savings tracker» lists every month with the planned and actual amounts.
Is it free? Do I need to sign up?
It is free and you do not need to sign up: fill in, see the result and download the Excel and Word files. With a free account you can save a copy to your Layers.
