An employer in the SSF scheme pays the SSF contribution instead of separate provident fund and gratuity (Labour Act s. 57). SSF contributors do not pay the 1% social security tax and can deduct retirement contributions up to one third of taxable income or Rs. 5 lakh a year (SSF) — Check at the start of the year. Income tax itself is not calculated.

Questions
How is SSF calculated in Nepal?
On your basic remuneration: 11% is deducted from your pay and the employer adds 20%, 31% in total. Of that, 28.33% (8.33% retirement and 20% pension) goes to your own account and 2.67% to social insurance for medical, maternity, accident and dependants' cover.
Is the Dashain bonus compulsory?
Yes. Section 37 of the Labour Act 2017 (2074) gives every worker a festival allowance of one month's basic pay a year, paid at Dashain unless the worker asks in writing for their own main festival. With less than a year of service it is paid in proportion.
What happens to gratuity under SSF?
The 8.33% gratuity is part of the employer's 20% and goes to the retirement scheme in your name. If your employer is not yet in SSF, the Labour Act still requires 8.33% gratuity and a 10% + 10% provident fund.
Does this calculate my income tax?
No. It shows your pay before income tax (TDS). SSF contributors don't pay the 1% social security tax, and the tax slabs for 2083/84 changed with the Finance Act 2083 — check them with the Inland Revenue Department.
Is it free? Do I need to sign up?
