Short answer. Put in your guests, the price per plate and what you expect to spend on the venue, decoration, outfits, jewellery and the rest: you see the total in lakh and how much to put aside every month until the muhurat. Catering: price per plate × guests; add the plates for every function — mehendi, sangeet, wedding and reception (How the calculator counts).

  • Book the venue and the caterer — about 9 months beforetype the date
  • Book the photographer, decorator and makeup artist — about 6 months beforetype the date

Wedding budget · all functions · ₹ lakh

Your wedding in rupees — and what to save each month until the muhurat

Guests and the price per plate, the venue, decoration and mandap, lehenga and sherwani, jewellery, photos, mehendi, the baraat and rooms for guests. You see the total, what to put aside every month until the wedding, and an Excel planner with a sheet for each function. No sign-up.

  1. Fix the muhurat with the pandit, then book the venue and caterer first — the November–February season fills early.
  2. Agree with both families who pays for what, using the table in the Word file, before anything is booked.
  3. Pay every advance against a written receipt and note it on the «Vendors» sheet.

All amounts are yours: the fields show examples, not market prices. Catering = plates × price per plate. Monthly payments run from today to the month before the wedding; the last one adjusts. Not financial advice.

Questions

How much does an Indian wedding cost?

It depends on guests, city and choices. Catering is usually the biggest line because it is priced per plate, so start with the guest count; the calculator multiplies plates by price and adds the other items.

What should be in a wedding budget list?

Catering, venue, decoration and mandap, lehenga and sherwani, jewellery, photography and video, bridal makeup and mehendi, DJ, band and baraat, pandit and puja samagri, cards and return gifts, and rooms and travel for guests. The Excel file has all of them, plus a sheet for each function.

How do we split the cost between both families?

The Word file has a «who pays for what» table to agree on before anything is booked. Many families split by function — for example, one side hosts the wedding and the other the reception.

Can I plan only the reception or a court marriage?

Yes: set the items you do not need to 0. The monthly plan changes at once.

Is it free? Do I need to sign up?

It is free and you do not need to sign up: fill in, see the result and download the file. With a free account you can save a copy to your Layers and come back to it later.
