Your daughter's account — what you deposit, the interest and the maturity value

Put in the yearly deposit, the rate and her age today. You see what you deposit in 15 years, the balance when deposits stop, the interest and the maturity value after 21 years, plus a year-wise Excel with a deposit log. No sign-up.

  1. Deposit early in April: the whole year then earns interest.
  2. Take her birth certificate and your Aadhaar and PAN to the post office or bank to open the account.
  3. Check at the start of the year and each quarter: the Ministry of Finance resets the rate every three months.

Arithmetic: one deposit at the start of each financial year for 15 years, interest compounded yearly, account maturing 21 years after opening — the method of the Government's own example (₹50,000 a year at 8.2% → ₹23,94,040). Rate 8.2%, unchanged for October–December 2026 (DEA, 30.09.2026). Deposits above ₹1,50,000 a year earn no interest. Not financial advice.
