How much notice do I give when I resign in Israel?
Monthly salary: 1 day per month in the first 6 months, 6 days plus 2.5 per month until the end of the first year, then one month. Hourly or daily wage: 1 day per month in year 1, 14 days plus 1 per 2 months in year 2, 21 plus 1 per 2 months in year 3, then one month (sections 3–5).
What must the letter say?
The law requires written notice stating the date of notice and the date the resignation takes effect (s. 2(c)). This letter has both.
I am a caregiver. Does this apply to me?
The notice rules are those of the Prior Notice Law unless your contract gives you more; check the notice clause in your caregiver contract. Use the same letter and keep proof of receipt.
Can I resign by e-mail or WhatsApp?
The law requires notice in writing and does not set a method. Keep proof of the date your employer received it.
What is resignation treated as dismissal?
A resignation the law treats as dismissal for severance pay: because of a material worsening of working conditions, your health or a family member's, or a parent resigning within 9 months of the birth (Severance Pay Law, sections 11, 6, 7). The document includes ready wording.
