| Monthly paid | Pay during holiday plus a 1% holiday supplement; many collective agreements give more | Holiday Act ss. 16, 18 |
| Hourly paid and leaving | Holiday allowance of 12.5% of pay; when you leave, for holiday not taken | Holiday Act s. 16(2) and (4) |
| Basis | All taxable pay plus your own pension contribution and the AM contribution | Holiday Act s. 19 |

Questions
How is holiday pay calculated in Denmark?
The holiday allowance is 12.5% of the pay you earned. If you leave before taking the holiday, 12.5% is calculated for the days not taken. Example: DKK 38,000 a month for 12 months with 15 of 24.96 days taken gives DKK 22,745.19 before tax.
How much holiday pay do I get after tax?
First 8% AM contribution, then income tax at your withholding rate. With DKK 22,745.19 and a 38% rate it is about DKK 12,973.85. If you use your personal allowance on it, you get more.
What is the difference between feriegodtgørelse and ferietillæg?
Monthly paid staff get their normal pay during holiday plus a supplement (ferietillæg) of 1% of pay. Hourly paid staff and people who leave get the 12.5% holiday allowance (feriegodtgørelse) instead.
I am leaving Denmark — can I get my holiday pay?
Yes: if you deregister from the CPR register to move abroad, the holiday pay is paid out on request; ask within 6 months (s. 26(4)–(5)).
Is there an Excel version?
Yes: the calculation with formulas, the month-by-month accrual, a leaving checklist and the rules.
Is it free? Do I need to sign up?
