FTB Part A estimate
Your Family Tax Benefit Part A — a year, a fortnight and the supplement
How many children in each age group and your family's adjusted taxable income. You see the maximum rate, the income test and your estimate — and an Excel file with a table by income and the claim checklist.
- Claim through myGov (Centrelink) with the checklist: tax file numbers, income estimate, children's details and care arrangements.
- Keep your family income estimate up to date — Centrelink balances FTB against your actual income after 30 June.
- Both partners lodge a tax return (or tell Centrelink you don't need to) so the supplement can be paid.
Arithmetic with Services Australia's published rates: maximum $235.48 (0–12) or $306.46 (13–15, 16–19 in secondary study) per child a fortnight, base $75.60; income test −20c per $ over $69,131 (not below base), −30c per $ over $123,078; a year = fortnight × 365 ÷ 14. Leaves out shared care, Rent Assistance, Energy Supplement, child support and FTB Part B. An estimate, not a Centrelink decision.

Questions
How much Family Tax Benefit will I get?
It depends on your children's ages and your family income. With income up to $69,131 you may get the maximum rate: $235.48 a fortnight for each child aged 0–12 and $306.46 for each child 13–15 (or 16–19 in secondary study). Above that it reduces by 20 cents per dollar, not below the base rate of $75.60 per child, then by 30 cents per dollar above $123,078.
At what income does FTB Part A stop?
It depends on how many children you have and their ages. Services Australia lists, for example, $129,648 for one child, $136,218 for two children aged 0–12 and $148,507 for three children aged 0–12.
What is the FTB Part A supplement?
A yearly payment after Centrelink balances your FTB: up to $970.90 per child for 2026–27, only if your family's adjusted taxable income is $80,000 or less.
Is this the amount Centrelink will pay?
No, it's an estimate. Shared care, Rent Assistance, Energy Supplement and child support change the amount, and Centrelink works out the real figure.
Is it free? Do I need to sign up?
It's free and you don't need an account: fill it in and download. With a free account you can save a copy to your Layers and come back to it next year.
