Business Proposal Template — send a client a proposal today
Short answer. Turn the client’s request into a concrete offer: what you understood, what you will deliver, what is excluded, what it costs and what happens next. Client need: describe the observable problem and desired outcome (context).

Fifteen days is an editable commercial example, not a legal default. State the validity you intend to offer.

Turn the request into a price and next step
Set the project fee and deposit. The Word template carries the client need, solution, scope, exclusions, timeline, payment and acceptance.
- Confirm the client outcome, deliverables, exclusions and owners.
- Write down feedback rounds, dates, expenses, tax treatment and payment triggers.
- Have the client accept in writing; use a separate agreement when fuller legal terms are needed.
Commercial planning template, not legal, tax or accounting advice. Acceptance may create obligations; adapt terms to the project and applicable law.

The SBA’s lean-planning guidance recommends specific milestones with tasks, deadlines, budgets and responsibilities. This client-facing template applies that planning discipline but is not an SBA form or a government proposal.
Step by step
What to do, in order
1
Write for the client
Lead with their outcome and the problem you understood, not your company biography.
2
Make scope testable
List deliverables, owners, target dates, feedback rounds and explicit exclusions.
3
Send a decision-ready offer
Check the fee and terms, then provide one clear next step before the validity date.
Questions
Is the Word business proposal template free?
Yes. The Word template and fictional Word/Excel examples are available without a watermark.
Is a proposal the same as a contract?
Not always, but an accepted proposal can create obligations. Use a separate agreement when the project needs fuller legal terms.
What belongs in the price section?
Fee, currency, applicable taxes, reimbursable expenses, deposit, payment milestones and what triggers the balance.
How much detail should scope include?
Enough for both sides to tell whether a deliverable is complete and whether a request is outside scope.
Can I use the examples as-is?
No. The companies and facts are fictional. Replace every client, project, legal and commercial field before sending.
