When your COE is due — and your final pay

The date you asked for your COE and your last day. You get both deadlines, how many days are left, and the request letter with your dates.

  1. Send the request in writing — e-mail to HR is enough — and keep the sent copy.
  2. No COE after 3 days: send the follow-up letter below.
  3. Final pay late too: the demand letter for final pay is the next step; then a Request for Assistance (SEnA) at DOLE.

Rules: DOLE Labor Advisory No. 06, Series of 2020 — the Certificate of Employment is issued within 3 days from the time of the request; final pay is released within 30 days from the date of separation or termination, unless a more favorable company policy or agreement applies. Days are counted here as calendar days from the day after the request.
