Wedding budget Sri Lanka — plates, poruwa, saree, photos and homecoming, and what to set aside each month
Short answer. List your guests and the price per plate, add the poruwa, attire, rings, photos, decorations and homecoming, and see the total and a monthly amount until the wedding day. Plates: guests × the price per plate — the biggest line in most budgets (Your hotel's quotation).
- Book the hotel or hall — about 9 months beforetype the date
- Hand the Notice of Marriage to the Registrar — at least 14 days beforetype the date
Check your own case.
The 14 days are the rule for general marriages (Registrar General's Department); the hotel booking is a tip.

Want a reminder on each deposit day until the wedding?
The calendar file works without an account. The reminder needs a free account so we know where to send it.- Get written quotations for the plates and the bar, then confirm the final count a week before.
- Hand the Notice of Marriage to the Registrar of your division at least 14 days before the wedding.
- Set aside the monthly amount — the plan shows every date until the wedding.
All amounts are yours: the fields show examples, not market prices. Monthly deposits run from today until the month before the wedding, rounded up to the rupee; the last one evens out. Registration fees from the Registrar General's Department (general marriages). Not financial advice.
