FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Do I need Microsoft Word on my Mac?
No. The conversion runs in Layers, in Safari, Chrome or Firefox. Word, Pages and LibreOffice are not needed.
Why not just use Print → Save as PDF?
That only works if a program on your Mac can open the .docx correctly. Layers lays the pages out itself and lets you correct the text before the PDF is made.
Will my file be deleted?
Yes. With the default option it is deleted after 2 hours; if you turn it off, it is deleted after 24 hours.
Is the transfer encrypted?
Yes. The browser sends your file over HTTPS. We do not put uploaded files in search indexes.
What does the free PDF contain?
The free PDF includes a small “Made with Layers” line. A clean PDF is available on the Layers Pro plan.
