Questions
What is the notice period for resignation in India?
It is set by your appointment letter or company policy — commonly 30, 60 or 90 days. The law does not fix one number for every job.
When must my last salary be paid?
Under section 17(2) of the Code on Wages, 2019, wages due on resignation are paid within two working days of resignation.
Can I leave before the notice period ends?
Ask for early release (version C). Whether the company agrees, and whether it adjusts leave or recovers pay, depends on your contract and policy.
Can I resign by email?
Yes — version B. Copy HR and keep the sent email as proof of the date.
What should I ask for on my last day?
Relieving letter, experience letter, full and final settlement statement and, later, Form 16.
How do I prove HR received my resignation?
Send it from Layers with tracking: you see when it was opened and for how long, and you can set a reminder to follow up.
